Russian River Valley
Estate
Pinot Noir 2021
The wines in this collection are primarily from Sonoma County, with most vineyards located within the distinct neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley appellation. These sites are exceptional—whether for their placement on slopes and ridges, the presence of rare old vines or unique clones, or the dedication of growers with decades of proven excellence.
In honor of the many old Zinfandel vineyards that were overlooked for decades in Sonoma County due to prohibition, our Forgotten Vines blend is comprised of several exemplary mature vineyards. These heritage vineyards were first planted in the late 1800s and early 1900s in the warmer reaches of the region. Planted as field blends, Zinfandel is the primary varietal planted, but not the only varietal. Petite Sirah, Carignane, Alicante Bouchet, and even some native vines can also be found in some of the vineyards. The vineyards, primarily Saitone, Boshcetti, and Battaligni, are harvested separately and remain separate throughout fermentation and aging until the final Forgotten Vines blend is crafted.

This luxurious, richly colored wine envelops the senses with generous aromas of ripe cherry, savory tobacco, and a whisper of smooth cocoa. The palate unfolds in layered complexity, showcasing concentrated notes of strawberry preserves and dark plum accented by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and toasted almond. Powerful yet polished, the wine delivers remarkable depth and structure, framed by firm, commanding tannins and culminating in a lingering finish touched with cracked black pepper.
