Collection

Vineyard Designate

The wines in this collection are primarily from Sonoma County, with most vineyards located within the distinct neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley appellation. These sites are exceptional—whether for their placement on slopes and ridges, the presence of rare old vines or unique clones, or the dedication of growers with decades of proven excellence.

Heintz

Growing some of the most sought after grapes in the Russian River Valley, the Heintz family has farmed the same coastal ridgeline for over a century. With a strong maritime influence, this old-vine vineyard is one of California's most iconic sites. The coastal fog moves directly through the vineyard during the growing season resulting in great diversity and detail in aromas and flavors including complex savory and mineral elements.

Story

Our Russian River Valley Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine is harvested from Heintz Vineyard, Green Valley of the Russian River Valley. Located above the town of Occidental on the western edge of the Green Valley, the vineyard lies on a gentle south facing slope, composed of Goldridge sandy loam soils intermixed with fractured sandstone. This is a highly sought terroir for quality wine, due to its excellent drainage and low fertility. The Pinot Noir sourced for this wine is from two clones Dijon clone 113 and the Beringer clone. Clone 113 is the most elegant with perfumed aromatics, amplifying the prettiness of the wine, where the Beringer clone consistently produces quality and graceful fruit of pedigree being one of the first Pinot Noir clones planted in the US.

Tasting Notes

Our Blanc de Noirs is bright, crisp, and fragrant to the nose along with a touch of peach aromas combined with floral notes of peonies and freesia strawberry and raspberry appear on airing in the glass. The flavors build in the mid-palate with a elegant, and lingering finish. Voluntarily low dosage makes this sparkling wine a match with roasted duck or a charcuterie platter pairing well with cheeses such as époisse or soumaintrain.
