Nestled between the rolling hills of Marin County in the southernmost section of the Petaluma Gap, sits the Azaya Vineyard. Azaya, which means “sanctuary” in Sanskrit, comprises 20 acres on a uniquely situated southwest facing vineyard in a cool and foggy valley with a long growing season. Planted on well-drained sandy loam soils, this single vineyard Pinot Noir showcases dimension and complexity from a singular vineyard. . The rolling hills trap the coastal fog in the mornings, allowing for a longer growing season and slower ripening of the 115, 828 and 777 Pinot Noir clones. Gently sloped to the south, the vineyard’s location on sun-kissed hills allows for an extended ripening time for the grapes.
